Our Method

Various methods of firing are used, but Raku and Saggar firing techniques are our favorites. These allow the fire and heat to decorate and embellish surfaces that have been treated with various chemicals and natural materials. There is a lot of loss in this process, but the joy of pulling a sculpture from a 2,000 degree kiln and plunging it into a closed vessel is so thrilling. The excitement abounds when the vessel is opened to reveal the “painted” sculpture.
